My name is Kolin Hansen, the face behind Getting Salty, and my goal is to create awareness of the incredible ocean life in the Pacific Northwest through photography, videography, art and design.

I am a certified technical diver and recreational enthusiast. I received my certifications in the cold waters of British Columbia, and feel most at home in its dark green glow (although I do enjoy a tropical holiday here and there!). 

Through my years of diving, I've developed a deep appreciation for the unique and fascinating marine life along the coast of British Columbia. I specialize in underwater photography and videography, and my work highlights the vibrant, colourful, and lesser-known species that inhabit its waters, such as Giant Pacific Octopus, Puget Sound King Crabs, countless nudibranchs and a vast variety of fish. My portfolio also includes brand partnerships, including promotional content, reviews, and seasonal campaigns. 

My fascination with these beautiful critters is what led me to create the original series of digital paintings of the life that I encounter on my dives. This ongoing series is available in a range of stickers and magnets, and I am proud to be able to share these incredible animals with people around the world, with product available both online and in local aquariums and storefronts. 

Alongside the incredible local dive community, my goal is to bring cold water diving to the forefront worldwide and showcase the remarkable life that thrives in these vibrant emerald seas.
